Three killed in train-car collision

Allahabad, May 6 (IANS) Three people were killed and three seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with an express train at an unmanned railway crossing here Tuesday.

The Indica car, in which the people were travelling, hit the Kanpur-bound Chauri-Chaura Express at Kuandeeh railway crossing.

Allahabad Senior Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Singh told IANS: 'The incident took place at an unmanned railway crossing between Phaphamau and Phulpur railway station.' The victims were admitted to the Rani Swaroop Hospital.

The accident occurred 9.15 a.m. when the train coming from Varanasi hit the car, police said.

The dead were all residents of Allahpur in Allahabad.

The Varanasi-Allahabad rail route remained affected for nearly an hour after the accident.
