Teenaged girl burnt after suspected rape

New Delhi, May 6 (IANS) The half burnt body of a teenaged girl was Tuesday found from an abandoned residential flat in west Delhi. Police suspect that the girl was raped and then set on fire.

The incident came to light when some residents of Janakpuri Desu Colony came across the body on the first floor of the residential building around 4.45 p.m.

The police said the victim was around 15 years old. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

"We are trying to ascertain the identity of the victim. It seems she was murdered probably last evening. The possibility of rape cannot be ruled out," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi) Sharad Agarwal said.
